Strategic Business Consultant Services

Helping to give your business strategic direction and clearer expectations

Without a robust plan you will never know whether your business is making the progress you feel it should. Equally you won’t know if or why your business is failing to achieve its genuine potential.
This involves strategic planning, a process which interrogates your current plan, challenges it as is necessary and which provides a clear statement of what is to be achieved and why. As part of the process we will establish key performance indicators to track impact over time. This is followed by tactical solution proposals explaining how the strategy is to be achieved.

The strategic action plan is the output which links goals with implementation (the “what, by whom and by when” component)

Being a sounding board for your ideas

How often have you asked yourself whether a particular decision is in the best interests of the business – is there a better way?
Some decisions need to be made by you without the consultation of colleagues. Running a business can be a lonely job and this is why having the services of a business mentor can be invaluable in terms of “sanity testing” ideas before their announcement. Business mentoring is of most use when a regular (not necessarily frequent) rhythm of contact is maintained.

Creating sustainable growth

There are only three ways of growing a business organically – winning more customers, retaining more customers and persuading customers to spend more with you each year.

Areas examined include market and competitor analysis, customer needs, customer profiling, SWOT analysis, business/product/service positioning, sales proposition, product quality and pricing/profitability, customer engagement, customer acquisition, customer retention/satisfaction, customer lifetime valuation, communications, sales process and sales pipeline.

Website marketing, digital and offline marketing and social media are all considered

Improving business profitability

Is your business capable of doing just 5 things 5% better? You might be surprised by the impact of such action on the bottom line of the business.
We work with clients to identify key business cost drivers, interrogate scope for their reduction then recommend and help implement actions for greater cost efficiency. The procedure involves a diagnostic process which examines those areas over which change can be positively affected by improved management procedures.

Challenging the assumptions behind mergers & acquisitions

It’s a common mistake in M&A to assume that 1+1=2, let alone 3. Success demands 20:20 thinking – embracing the needs of shareholders, customers, staff and suppliers, with all the relevant supporting processes in place.
Business acquisitions often appear attractive yet often disappoint on realisation. We challenge the thinking behind the rationale and propose the grounds on which such arrangements will work successfully. Our approach considers the “critical non-essential elements” of such initiatives with particular attention to non-financial aspects.

Exit Planning - helping you realise the optimal value of your business should you wish to sell

Having spent a number of years building your business, you may have decided that it’s time to realise the value of the asset you have created. Careful forward planning is critical to a successful outcome.

How We Work With Our Clients

All companies differ in their culture, the way they do business and in the needs they face. For this reason there are no common business solutions. Each requires its own bespoke approach.

Equally we do not profess to have all the answers, and will acknowledge this should it be the case in the context of your business.
